Decrepitude

Self-directed Project: The amusement park was a joy for all children. But as time passed, I slowly began to distance myself from various rides, costumes, and parades as they looked so juvenile. In reality, what I found was an outdated Ferris wheel, rusted tracks of roller coasters, and a dusty merry-go-around, which all used to shine and gleam when I visited the park a decade ago. In this pen drawing, I tried to exaggerate the nostalgic feeling I felt from my childhood. The rusted lift on the left corner of the drawing represents me as an old man. On the other hand, the various rides represent the sense of separation I felt from them, and the glimpse of longing I felt as the rides continued to rust as I aged over time.
